#Sunrise city series
Some of them are scheduled while the national restrictions are in place and those later in the series are so close to the end of restrictions in the government’s roadmap, that it would be too much of a risk to confirm we can go ahead when even a small delay would have an impact.
The councils have, understandably, been unable to give permission for the events. While things are looking a lot more positive in the battle against the virus, unfortunately we are not quite there to the degree where it will be possible to hold mass participation events this summer. I’m sure we were in the same boat as many of you in hoping that this would be a distant memory by now. It is with a great deal of regret that we are writing to inform you that we will not be able to deliver the physical Sunrise City 5K events this year as an ongoing result of the coronavirus pandemic. My 10 year old grandson did it with me and he loved it too, even at that time of the morning!” I could walk at my own pace at the back without any pressure to hurry up and I got to watch the sun rise over the city and get some great pictures. “I don’t do events and I certainly don’t do running. You get a run in, a medal, a great t-shirt and can be home again or at the office for 8am. However, the chance to be part of something bigger is great fun. “I run every morning without fail and often go for longer than 5km. This is a perfect way for me to do what I want to do without anyone else having to give up something they want to do too.” “I’ve always loved taking part in events, but as my children have got older it is getting harder to book things in around their busy schedule at weekends. Sunrise City is a 5k run or walk that takes place at the unusual time of 5.30am on a Friday morning in the summer.īut more than that, it is a community that is growing, with more and more people joining the Purple Movement and adding a wave of colour to their city streets when nobody is expecting it.
